Office Hours: Tuesdays
In this course, we will investigate the impact, potential,
and use of technological tools in the teaching of K-16 mathematics and science,
including:
·
Factors that contribute to the effective use of
technology in math and science classrooms;
·
Strategies for teaching and learning math and
science using technology;
·
Research findings on the impact of technology on
students’ learning of math and science concepts;
·
The ways in which the content of science and
mathematics courses changes when technology is introduced.
In addition, we will explore many types of technological tools ourselves and apply results of educational research and theories of knowing and learning to design lessons that incorporate technology in meaningful ways to improve student learning.
The format of this course will be that of a seminar. We’ll all read, discuss, play, and contribute in order to enhance the learning of the group. The more effort each person puts into this course, the more fun we will have!
