portfolio

A “showcase” portfolio is a effective, powerful communications tool. A preservice portfolio provides a much more effective presentation of your capabilities than traditional paper-based evaluation forms Plus, never overlook the value of a portfolio as an alternative to a resume .

Your portfolio as a preservice educator can exhibit highlights of important information about your potential in the classroom. In addition, a portfolio on the Web provides a convenient format for displaying work in multi-media formats, including sound, graphics, video, text and computer exhibits. A sound exhibit might present an interview with a student. Digitized graphics might capture a snapshot of a bulletin board or classroom center that you have developed. A video might capture a typical teaching/learning environment in which you have participated. Examples of lesson plans, project templates or exams that you have created can exhibit other professional capabilities. Maintaining your own professional portfolio on the Web is a technique for documenting the start of your professional careers.

This activity consists of a Guided and an Extension. The Guided portion will be accomplished in class. Anyone who can not attend this class please see Dr. Burson.
